Joining in Hindustan University, chennai
My nephew has planned to join in Aeronautical engineering branch, Hindustan university, Chennai. I was right through with them to help join in the college right from Counselling.
Been to guindy branch location for counselling on the invited day with my nephew and his parents. Since this is autonomous university the couselling is just a farce, irrespective of the score you do in HITSEE entrance examination that college itself have conducted for admission in to college. Just you go to the location, show your marks sheets , bargain the amount (its college fee - but still bargains happening all over there) , pay some initial amount on that day, confirm your seat. Its just FIFO (First In First Out or First come first serve basis). There is no priority for those, who writes their entrance examination. I felt like, entrance examination is just one of a money making tool.
Another day before joining the college, again I have been to the same guindy location to make the complete (rest amount) payment. When we went first time, we weren't given complete information about the exact amount that needs to be paid for the course. Unfortunately the counsellor ( the one who we spoke for fee disounts or bargains.. what ever) that we sat with is very unskilled and assured that we will get a phone call and they will inform 1 month before, the exact amount to be paid for joining. I was not satisfied with her answer and insisted for exact amount to be paid, and her reply is she doesn't know the fee details and she is just a faculty in the college and is not aware of those things. WTF !!!!! We just paid initial amount and confirmed the seat for my nephew. He was given 50% discount ( :-O ) based on some calculations she has done with calculator in front of us. On the day of payment of remaining amount have been to the same guindy location, and when I asked about the exact remaining amount to be paid , the answer from them was again astonishing. Dont you know the fee to be paid !!!!!! again WTF !!!! Instead of answering the question , their answers were pretty irrelevant and their behaviour is very short tempered. Almost every one over there are pretty unstable and arrogant except 1 or 2 people. Payment of fee over the counter takes about 10-15 mins for one person. They were feeling like, we have the best college in the universe. Either join or die. They have the campus in OMR Road which is around 30 - 40 kms from the guindy office location. Arranged only one bus for around 20 people only, and the rest has to take their own logistics on the first day. Instead they should have asked or managed to do all the things at one single location at college.
All in all, what I felt is, they are completely unorganised and they dont looke like and old university. It looks like as if they are fresh management in new college. No proper information. No organisation. It all felt like a fish market over there.
In all during this 2-3 months process, there was no proper communication either through e-mail or through printed form.
